How can I exclude words or phrases from being translated?

arrow right

If you want certain words (like “Destinazio”, “Webflow”, or “SEO”) to always stay in the original language:

  1. Log in to your Weglot Dashboard → Translations → Exclusions.
  2. Click Add exclusion rule.
  3. Type the exact word or phrase (case-sensitive).
  4. Save — Weglot will now skip these everywhere on your site.

💡 Example: AddDestinazio

→ Weglot won’t try to translate it into “Destination” or anything else.

How can I replace a specific word or phrase in all translations?

arrow right

Perfect if a term is always translated the wrong way (e.g. “Home” becomes “Haus” instead of “Startseite”).

To fix it:

  1. Go to Translations → Glossary.
  2. Click Add rule.
  3. Choose between:
    • Never translate (to keep a word as-is)
    • Always translate (to enforce a preferred translation)
  4. Enter both versions and save.

💡 Example:

  • Never translate → “Destinazio”
  • Always translate → “Home” → “Startseite”

I changed a translation, but it doesn’t show on my site

Don’t worry — this usually takes only a few seconds.
Try these quick checks:

  1. Clear your browser cache or use an incognito window.
  2. Publish your site again, if recent layout changes were made.
  3. Check the correct language URL (e.g. /fr/ or /de/).
  4. Still not updating? In Weglot, go to Settings → Tools → Clear cache and refresh your site.

How can I find and edit a specific translation?

arrow right

There are two easy ways:

Option 1 – Visual Editor (easiest)

  1. In the left menu, go to Visual Editor.
  2. Click Start Editing – your website opens in preview mode.
  3. Click directly on any text to see and edit its translation.
  4. Type your new translation and click Save.

Option 2 – Translations List (for many texts at once)

  1. In the left menu, select Translations → Translations List.
  2. Use the search bar to find the text you want (you can paste the original phrase).
  3. Update the translation on the right side.
  4. Weglot automatically saves changes — no need to republish in Webflow.
